Well…
This is probably not the kind of 33-month performance chart you want attached to your crypto career.
MTC Education figure Michael Sloggett has been sentenced to two years and nine months imprisonment in Australia following money-laundering and separate drug-related offences.
He’ll reportedly be eligible for release after serving five months, subject to a $1,000 recognizance.
So let’s unpack this one, because the post-sentencing spin is almost as interesting as the sentencing itself.
$2.6 Million Is a Lot of Crypto

The case involved more than $2.6 million associated with cryptocurrency transactions.
According to the court reporting, Sloggett helped clients anonymize cryptocurrency transactions while failing to maintain adequate identity records required under financial regulations.
He ultimately pleaded guilty to Commonwealth offences involving dealing with money reasonably suspected of being proceeds of crime totaling at least $100,000.
That’s an important detail.
Because after sentencing, Sloggett apparently wanted everyone to focus on another detail.
“They Didn’t Say I Knew!”
Sloggett highlighted the fact prosecutors weren’t claiming he knew exactly where the money originated.
And yes, that’s an important distinction.
The judge reportedly told him:
“You are not being sentenced on the basis that you knew the origin of the money involved.”
Sounds pretty good…
Until you read the other part.
The court found the circumstances made it reasonable for Sloggett to suspect the money was proceeds of crime.
That’s kind of like saying:
“I didn’t know exactly why the suitcase contained $2.6 million in suspicious money.”
Okay.
But apparently the court’s answer was essentially:
You had enough information to realize this suitcase might require a few follow-up questions.
Context matters.

From “Former Crypto King” to Comeback Story
Sloggett also reportedly wasn’t thrilled with media coverage describing him as a former crypto king.
His preferred story appears to be something closer to:
Local guy makes bad decisions.
Loses everything.
Gets back up.
Rebuilds.
Starts winning again.
And you know what?
I actually like comeback stories.
I’m a Christian.
My entire faith is built around the reality that human beings can repent, be forgiven and become different people through Jesus Christ.
But there’s a difference between:
Redemption
and
public relations.
Redemption starts with truth.
You don’t need to minimize yesterday to build a better tomorrow.
Meanwhile, MTC Education Is Still Around
Here’s where the original article may already need updating.
MTC Education currently has active marketing pages, and Sloggett is still prominently associated with the brand.
His own current website describes MTC Education as cryptocurrency trading education with more than 100 hours of training, coaching calls, community access, market scans and other features.
And yes…
There’s still a referral component.
Because apparently no crypto education ecosystem is complete until somebody says:
“And you can earn commissions too!”
$200 a Month for the Student Plan
Current MTC marketing lists a Student membership starting at $200 per month.
There’s also a Visionary membership advertised at $211.99 per month, plus a $100 activation fee.
Sloggett’s marketing currently calls him:
“Trader. Educator. Operator.”
I suppose “soon-to-be temporary resident of an Australian correctional facility” didn’t test as well with the marketing department.
Okay, that was my one prison joke.
The underlying situation is serious.

Then There’s Alpha Signals
Sloggett has also been marketing Alpha Signals.
Current marketing around the product describes AI-powered signals, automation and trading tools. It also promotes Sloggett as a highly ranked copy trader.
And this is where I always tell readers:
Slow down.
Words like:
AI.
Automation.
Signals.
Algorithm.
Institutional.
Copy trading.
Elite.
Operator.
None of those words magically create investment returns.
If someone makes extraordinary performance claims, ask for independently verifiable evidence.
Don’t be hypnotized by the vocabulary.
The Internet Never Runs Out of “Number One” Traders
Sloggett’s own websites currently make some very large claims about his accomplishments, including describing him as having been ranked the world’s number-one copy trader on Bitget and claiming he’s trained tens of thousands of people.
Maybe some of those claims can be independently substantiated.
Maybe some can’t.
That’s exactly why due diligence exists.
Whenever someone’s website says:
#1 IN THE WORLD
my next question isn’t:
“Where do I deposit?”
It’s:
“According to whom?”
That’s a surprisingly useful sentence in crypto.
The Bigger Problem With Crypto Marketing
Crypto has developed a strange culture where the person selling something often becomes part of the product.
Look at my lifestyle.
Look at my trades.
Look at my car.
Look at my award.
Look at my followers.
Look at my screenshots.
Look how confident I am.
And before you know it, people aren’t evaluating the investment or service anymore.
They’re evaluating a personality.
That’s dangerous.
Confidence isn’t evidence.
Lifestyle isn’t evidence.
A screenshot isn’t audited financial performance.
And a Lamborghini has never performed due diligence on your behalf.
Final Thoughts: You Can Rebuild — But Start With Truth
Here’s where I want to become serious.
Michael Sloggett is going to prison.
I’m not celebrating that.
He is a human being.
He has family.
He has people who care about him.
And whatever mistakes he’s made, I genuinely hope he comes out of this situation better than he went into it.
I hope he reflects.
I hope he takes accountability.
And most importantly:
I pray he comes to know Jesus Christ.
Because here’s something Christians understand better than anyone:
People really can change.
Not through motivational slogans.
Not through “grinding.”
Not through becoming the number-one trader.
Not through making millions.
Through Jesus.
Paul persecuted Christians and became one of Christianity’s greatest evangelists.
The thief hanging beside Jesus had nothing left to offer — and Christ showed him mercy.
None of us is beyond God’s reach.
But genuine repentance begins with truth.
Proverbs 28:13 says:
“Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.”
That’s the message I’d rather leave people with.
Not:
“Look at this guy going to prison.”
But:
Look at how desperately every one of us needs a Savior.
Michael Sloggett needs Jesus.
I need Jesus.
You need Jesus.
We all do.
The Bible says we have all sinned and fallen short of God’s glory.
But Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came into this world, lived without sin, died on the cross for our sins and rose again.
Your past doesn’t have to define your eternity.
Your criminal record doesn’t determine whether Jesus will receive you.
Your failures aren’t bigger than His grace.
But we must come to Him.
Repent.
Believe.
Trust Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Jesus said:
“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” — Mark 8:36
You can become the number-one trader in the world.
You can build the biggest crypto platform.
You can make millions.
And eventually…
you leave every dollar behind.
Jesus offers something money never can:
forgiveness, reconciliation with God and eternal life.
That’s the opportunity worth pursuing.
Jesus Christ is Lord.
